Vo’oltaire is a small, lush planet full of vibrant and voracious creatures of all shapes and sizes. Its lavish green landscape, only disturbed by series of rivers and large oceans in the center of the planet, is similarly hospitable to other lush worlds. Vo’oltaire’s unique (and dangerous) trait that separates it from fellow dwarf planets are the large electromagnetic clouds encircling its outermost atmosphere. These enormous, nebulae-like electromagnetic fields make it impossible for any electronic devices to be operated on the planet’s surface or within its atmosphere. This makes Vo’oltaire a prehistoric prison for all of its inhabitants, dooming them to an existence without any semblance of advanced technology or hope of escaping off world.
Vo’oltaire is one of two twin planets located in the The Wall within the Galaxy. Like its counterpart, Da’oah, Vo’oltaire is a world that would be hospitable if not for its uniquely charged atmosphere. Any sort of technology outside of the most basic weapons, tools, and equipment is completely inoperable on the planet—any and all electrical technology that enters the planet’s atmosphere or lands on the planet’s surface is subsequently rendered dormant. There have been no recorded instances of any technology being resuscitated or otherwise used on Vo’oltaire, which has given the planet the nickname, “the Dormant One”. Therefore, all the information recorded on Vo’oltaire’s geological, ecological, and cultural aspects was gathered from a distance, usually beyond the outer reaches of its atmosphere. Nonetheless, the majority of what has been deduced about the planet is still up for speculation, as no scientists or researchers have been able to land on the planet and report back any valuable information—or make contact with their team members in any way.
Despite the perpetual purgatory that it imposes on its inhabitants, Vo’oltaire is a hospitable world rich with natural resources and abundant in lively species of flora and fauna. Its verdant environments are well-suited for horticulture and farming, and its large expanses of lakes, rivers, and waterfalls allow the planet to have clean and dependable aquifers. Its large oceans have allowed the planet’s local ecosystems to remain fairly isolated from each other, which encourages greater biodiversity. Similarly, these ecosystems are able to recover from any inflicted damages rather quickly. However volatile, the planet’s electromagnetic field has affected the local wildlife, giving everything there an elevated electrical charge. This allows Vo’oltaire to host some of the galaxy’s most exotic and rare plant species, including the carnivorous Fángire’e Vine (FAAN-GUY-REH-EH) and the expansive and electrically charged Lumemoss (LOO-MEN-MOSS).
Miscellaneous Species
Little is known about what native sentient species inhabit Vo’oltaire. What is known is that some of the Galaxy’s most prominent governments have declared Vo’oltaire a “purgatory world,” where prisoners considered “beyond redemption” or “incapable of being reformed” are sent to a doomed existence without technology. However, it is speculated that many of these prisoners are sent to the planet without due process, and instead of treating eternal damnation on Vo’oltaire as a last resort, many corrupt officials have simply sent their political rivals or convicted criminals to the planet as a means of getting them out of their way. Nevertheless, this reputation for unjustly disposing troublemakers on Vo'oltaire has not stopped the most ruthless and cutthroat of politicians from shipping their enemies there for eternal exile.
