Haw’Kantör is a medium-sized thoroughly damaged lush planet home to some of the most dangerous individuals in the Galaxy. Its once lively meadows and small forests, which spawned multiple species (both docile and predatory), have been irreversibly scorched by constant warfare. Though some of its areas remain untainted by battles, Haw’Kantör’s ecosystems are permanently ravaged by their constant exposure to lethal chemicals, plasma burns, and periodic bombing runs from each military faction. As a result, besides the planet's indigenous species, only the Galaxy’s most ruthless military leaders and soldiers remain on Haw’Kantör’s surface. No other species dares approach the planet nor its shattered moon for fear of being shot out of Haw’Kantör’s orbit and obliterated.
Haw’Kantör is a prime example of the potential consequences of unending warfare on a planetary scale. Believed to have once been the home world of multiple sentient species, they have long been extinct from the incessant fighting across the planet’s surface. The only remains of their long-dead civilization are the large stone ruins scattered across the planet, including an enormous obsidian archway located in the exact center of Haw’Kantör. Thought to have one been an intergalactic gateway between other worlds with corresponding gates, it now remains dormant, the cryptic symbols on the dark stones dark and lifeless.
Most of Haw’Kantör's terrain and ecosystems are as lifeless as the ancient remains. Consistent warfare across the planet from military factions has severely fractured the planet’s landmasses, separating many of the planet’s rich forests from the rivers and meadows that once nurtured them. The natural resources that Haw’Kantör once possessed, extracted for fortifications, ammunition, supplies, and food, remain similarly fractured, with many of these natural stores permanently depleted. As a result, all of the species remaining on the planet fight tooth and nail for every resource they can scrounge up. This desperate scramble for basic sustenance has only exacerbated Haw’Kantör’s rapid deterioration.
Törrö’ow, Haw’Kantör’s only moon, is even more desiccated and destroyed than the planet it orbits. Originally used as a mining colony, after the first wars broke out across Haw’Kantör many centuries ago, the various military factions began scrambling to Törrö’ow in a desperate pursuit for extra resources. All of their efforts were made in vain as a rogue squadron of Quarran soldiers launched multiple ionic torpedoes at the moon’s surface. Their strategy was simple; if they could not claim the moon’s resources as their own, then they would doom every other faction. Thus, multiple sections of Törrö’ow’s landmass fractured and were flung off into outer space. Now, Törrö’ow is little more than loosely connected asteroids orbiting a planet that may well suffer the same fate.
The Shadow Dwellers
The only principal species that inhabits the damaged Haw’Kantör are the mysterious Shadow Dwellers. Like their distant cousins on Giolla, the Shadow Dwellers are extremely elusive creatures who are rarely seen by anyone, much less interacted with. It seems that these particular Shadow Dwellers arrived on the planet after Törrö’ow was decimated by the Quaran forces and have continued to appear on the planet in higher numbers as the warfare has continued. It also appears that this particular sect of Shadow Dwellers has a preference for attacking and kidnapping any lone soldiers who become separated from their respective groups. Where these soldiers go is unknown, but what is certain is that once taken by their shadowy captors, they never return.
Miscellaneous Species
The other remaining species on the planet are warriors from military-based civilizations, including the Quarran, Bi-Lexos, and Caulans. However, the vast majority of the fighters present on Haw’Kantör are among the Galaxy’s worst war criminals. Long ago, the Intergalactic government decided that it was in every planet’s best interest to send some of their most ruthless war criminals and problematic prisoners of war into exile on Haw’Kantör. Rather than face any arising crises with their “undesirable soldiers”, many planet’s governments chose to send them to die on a distant planet far away from all of the Galaxy's Core Worlds.
Now, the majority of Haw’Kantör’s inhabitants are these wayward warriors who, organized into multiple gangs and factions, are desperately trying to survive on a rapidly-dying planet. Moreover, the only species that frequently travel to Haw’Kantör are various military leaders who aim to analyze combat strategies and practice military drills. Even then, these commanders give the wild soldiers on Haw’Kantör a wide berth, as many have traveled to the planet with hopes of becoming some sort of “messiah” or “cult leader” only to be immediately attacked and captured, and have their supplies and equipment ransacked. Many who have suffered this fate have ended up taking their own lives, as being stranded on Haw’Kantör indefinitely is considered a fate worse than death.
