One of the few supergiant planets within the Inner Core, Òngöra is the foundry capital of the Galaxy. Known as "The Inner Core's Foundry," to galactic traders or "The Never-ending Flame" by the locals, Òngöra's endless fonts of flame attract skilled makers and manufacturers from across the Galaxy. The main research site for all processes alloy and metallurgic, Òngöra's flaming factories are the products of the most prosperous and profitable industrial monopolies in the Galaxy. Typically located along the igneous shores of vast oceans of fire and smoke, Òngöra's industrial capitals are home to some of the Galaxy's hardiest and most versatile peoples.
Though most of the planet's visitors are economic envoys or corporate workers, several colonizing species have established permanent dwellings farther inland. Öogaadaa (OH-oooh-GAH-dah) City, a gigantic metropole located near the basalt mines of the Southeast, is one of the largest settlements on the entire planet. A Da'oan industrial fortress, Öogaadaa City is the central trading hub on Óngöra, and a favored destination for all ambitious merchants in the Galaxy. However, though the Ash Woods and Char Canyons of the North and the Scorch Springs of the South attract few prospectors, they are each home to others calling Óngöra's volcanic terrain home.
A fiery giant covered in rivers of slag, canyons of magmatic rock, geysers of liquid fire and forests of smoldering ashes, Òngöra is a volatile world whose native sentient life died long ago. Though many a predatory creature lurks beneath Òngöra's magmatic waves or above its ash-laden sky, the planet no longer births species capable of sophisticated organization. As such, few colonists have come to this planet for permanent settlement, as Òngöra's inhospitable terrain and lack of consumable resources makes it nigh impossible for anyone but the most skilled survivalists to subsist.
The Da'oan (DAH-OH-an)
Like their distant cousins, these Da'oan colonists have established a practical monopoly on metallurgy with their heat-resistant metals and durable alloys. Sheltered deep within their blackened fortress cities along the Eastern coastlines, these Da'oan smiths maintain close ties with their brethren, providing them with many of the materials needed to make large quantities of Scorium. However, their almost unchallenged access to raw magmatic material has led some groups of Da'oan mechanics to splinter off from their species' main mercantile guild, forming their own trade groups and selling their supplies of Scorium and other precious metals to consumers on the Galactic Black Market.
One such group, known as the Black Pyre, is famous for supplying nearly all of the Galactic Underworld with their supplies of Scorium and other heat-resistant products, including the unstable and lethal Charron rounds. Incendiary projectiles often sought by weapon manufactures and military outfitters, Charron rounds are used to great effect against all things susceptible to fire-which is to say, nearly everything in the Galaxy. It is no coincidence then, that the Black Pyre have taken to manufacture Charron-based weaponry alongside their production of Scorium, as they are the only group known to produce the rare metals necessary for their wares while also being completely immune to their creation's negative side effects.
The Banished Houses
Large families of withdrawn Morasapiens, the Banished Houses are the remnants of exiled political prisoners. Forever estranged from their swampy home world of Moras III, these families are home to some of the most tenacious and resilient members of their species. Forced to survive on a hostile world, Houses Star-Slain, BrokenBlaze and Smolder-Scorned carefully carve out their existences within Òngöra's Ash Woods, Char Canyons, and Scorch Springs through the patronage of local Da'oan colonists. Though neither party openly admits it, it is believed that upon their arrival on Òngöra, the Morasapien exiles received direct assistance from the Da'oan merchants. In exchange for invaluable knowledge about volcanic sustenance and survival, sections of each Morasapien House became contract laborers for Da'oan employers. Thus, both species are now intertwined in superheated subsistence-one group provides the necessary financial and industrial support needed to survive, while the other provides a constant labor force to expedite their employer's manufacturing processes.
Miscellaneous
Aside from the semi-nomadic Banished Houses and the sedentary Da'oan industrialists, the only other species present on Òngöra are the various customers attracted by Da'oan wares. Typically remaining on the planet's surface for short periods of time, commercial envoys and ambitious traders land across the planet's surface in regular intervals. Though most of these merchants restrict their movements to the outskirts of hospitable Da'oan citadels, exploration parties occasionally roam the planet in search of viable land formations to establish permanent commissary communes. So far, none of these endeavors have been successful, as each of these groups lack the invaluable survivalist experience and metallurgic knowledge necessary to survive on inhospitable worlds like Òngöra. Nevertheless, determined-and perhaps foolish-immigrant parties continue attempting to establish their own holdings in the interplanetary smelting sector.
