Tyjúta is a medium sized, watery world orbiting within the Galaxy’s Inner Core. Surrounded by three extra-planetary rings, most of Tyjúta’s biosphere is covered in water. Across its surface, only the small archipelago and islet interrupt Tyjúta’s chaotic oceans, with only a few landmasses escaping seasonal sinking. Likewise, Tyjúta’s upper atmospheres are similarly chaotic, churning powerful air currents every which way. Here, marine wind tunnels and cyclonic storms are quite common, battering virtually everything in deluges of wind and water. As such, while Tyjúta’s underwater currents are relatively stable, everything above its ocean’s surface(s) are unpredictable and dangerous.
Tyjúta is a haven for all kinds of aquatic species. Covered in kilometers of water, the only landmasses are flattened by powerful currents and tempestuous tides. As such, finding a viable place to land is incredibly difficult, with most pilots preferring to dive beneath the waves looking for an underwater access port or similar platform. Furthermore, breaching Tyjúta’s atmosphere is an even greater challenge. High above its surface, storm clouds roil violently, with powerful thunderclouds and lightning storms buffeting everything brave enough to traverse its darkened skies. Navigating these nebulous storm clouds is a difficult task at best, with even the most experienced pilots struggling to approach Tyjúta’s biosphere. It is therefore advised that any vessel approaching Tyjúta have a sturdy hull and a strong shielding package, lest they risk total obliteration.
However, the situations beneath Tyjúta’s oceans are far different. Far below Tyjúta’s waterline, vast civilizations flourish. From the Agörshan factories to the bubbling Klyggan metropoles, Tyjúta’s ocean floors are covered in massive underwater cities, manufacturing hubs, and sophisticated research outposts. Amidst forests of giant kelp, weeds, and other aquatic plants, large industrial centers are erected along Tyjúta’s ocean floors. In the darker depths of the planet’s twilight zone, small research outposts are scattered along sea cliffs and massive chasms. Measuring seismic anomalies, chemical concentrations and weather anomalies, these scientists safeguard the safety and health of Tyjúta’s oceans, carefully balanced planetary equilibrium amid intense industrial development.
Agörsha (ah-GORR-shah)
Living on the flattened rock formations of Tyjúta’s ocean floor, the industrious Agörshan are masters of underwater incandescence and metallurgy. A species well-suited for aquatic survival, the serpentine Agörsha combine their natural bioluminescence and excretions of phosphorus and magnesium to great success. Using the churning currents and underwater heat vents along Tyjúta’s daylight zone, the Agörsha lead the Galaxy in the ignition industry, developing submersible technology that few other cultures can compete with. Similarly, the Agörshan maintain a practical monopoly on Galaxy’s Cheglūgga (sheh-GLOO-guh) Weed, a powerful bonding agent for chemosynthetic fuel sources and many forms of opiate medications. Thus, the Agörshan biochemical and technological programs uplift them into the intergalactic market, granting their species much economic prestige and political power amongst many industrial cultures.
Klyygan (kl-EYE-gahn)
Sequestered within Tyjúta’s deepest reaches, the Klyygan pride themselves for their climakinetic abilities. Able to sense and manipulate weather patterns, the Klyygan draw power from planetary atmospheres and atmospheric pressures. They use this to great affect within their cliffside outposts, as experienced Klyygan scientists form large air pockets around their dwellings through their climakinetic powers. Despite not possessing typical aquatic features (lacking gills, fins, or sensory organs adapted for underwater movement), the Klyygan do possess one unique trait ideal for underwater subsistence. All Klyygan are acutely sensitive to changes in atmospheric pressure, and are able to detect subtle shifts in localized pressures regardless of their physical surroundings. This allows them to successfully navigate their darkened homes without the aid of enhanced echo-locative or lighting technologies.
