The Brauvosi Pantheon
The Brauvosi tribes worship a plethora of deities, monsters, and other primordial beings. Though the level of importance and reverence associated with each being is subject to local tradition, most Bravosi consider the following creatures the most integral to their mythology and folklore. Be that as it may, this catalogue is the result of ongoing research conducted by Project Stargazer's research team. All of the names and terms described in this text are the rough translations from Brakéhdaaka (BRAW-KEH-daa-kah), the most common Brauvosi language. Any mispronunciations or errors present are made by the catalogues' compilers, and blame for these mistakes should not be assigned to the native correspondents associated with this record (or any other members of their species).
KÁHDHRIIHII (kah-DREE-HEE) - The Brauvosi mistress of light, love, and compassion, Káhdhriihii is the patron of marriage and households. Viewed as the original life-giver to the Brauvosi species, who breathed life into the earth amidst the carnage of her fellow gods, Káhdhriirii is one of the most revered and honored beings across all Brauvosi settlements. The Brauvosi typically pray to Káhdhriihii during ceremonies of matrimony, birth, and remembrance, for as the ancient proverb goes, "In the eyes of our Mother, all are loved."
KÉHBRAGGA (KEH-brah-GAH) - The Brauvosi Goddess of invention, craftsmanship, and trade, Kéhbragga is the patron to all traders, laborers, and innovators. Usually associated with weapon and armor smiths, the Brauvosi typically pray to Kéhbragga when forging a weapon or armor set of great physical prowess. Additionally, shelter builders and Kéh’nädda N’Tamhï makers periodically seek guidance from Kéhbragga before beginning an expansive project, or prior to preparing a deceased Brauvosi for off-world ejection.
KÉH'KÉKÄNOI (KEH-ah-keh-KAAH-noi) - The Brauvosi God of death. Known as the Soul-Stealer, Kéh'kékänoi is said to dwell within the frozen fields of N'Tam. There, he claims the souls of all deceased Brauvosi ejected towards the icy moon. Supposedly, Kéh'kékänoi plants these lost souls within his blackened garden of ghostly thorns and branches. It is said that all of the Brauvosi noble dead regrow into ghostly flowers, ready to be transported into the next life, while the souls of Brauvosi criminals and heretics wither, warping into the twisting bracken of the Soul-Stealer's Garden. These dejected souls are doomed to remain in the blackened bracken, forever watching their living brethren from afar.
N'TAIIMÁ (NEH-teye-MAH) - The Brauvosi Goddess of Funeral Rites and the Afterlife. Often associated with Kéh'kékänoi, N'Taiimá is said to dwell alongside the Death God on N'Tam. Unlike her counterpart, N'Taiimá is closely associated with preserving the dead and helping the souls of the recently deceased leave the corporeal world. N'Taiimá will selectively pluck the prettiest flowers from Kéh'kékänoi's garden, and carry them towards the Brauvosi afterlife in her Field of Souls.
BAH'NOIRA (BAH-ah-NOY-rah) - Once a humungous creature that roamed the skies in search of prey, the six-winged Báh'noira is widely considered the Brauvosi people's holy guardian. The first being that the Brauvosi people encountered after their emergence, the Báh'noira carried the first Brauvosi and placed them into their ancestral lands. There, the Báh'noira gave the infant species a warning, "Never follow the path of Gods and Beasts. Never forget their lessons, lest you suffer the same fate." With that, the Báh'noira departed into the sky, and has never been seen since. Now associated with wisdom and justice, it is said that those who unjustly cast fear and hatred are abducted by the winged creature, and never return.
BRADÉKAA (brah-DEH-kaah) - A large winged serpent who once patrolled the skies over Brauvos-VII's Eastern seas, Bradékaa is the beast of vigilance, patience, and speed. Brauvosi religious leaders often associate Bradékaa with athleticism, focus, and mental fortitude, and prayers are sent to her whenever Brauvosi warriors or scholars attempt to surpass their limits.
KÉHDA' (KEH-dah) - A gigantic beast whose corpse lays across the Western Hemisphere of Brauvos-VII. Commonly considered the fiercest of all of the Elder Gods, The Kédha' Beast is a symbol of primal ferocity, strength, and endurance for all Brauvosi. The Kédha' Beast is one of Brauvosi's many primordial war beings, and its skull houses the central complexes of Kéhda’ak (KEH-dah-AHCK) City.
KRÁNÉKAN (KRAAH-nehh-kahn) - Once a monstrous octopod that clambered among the corpses of Brauvos-VII's mightiest creatures, the Kránékan is associated with all things cunning, conniving, and cold-hearted. One of many Brauvosi creatures associated with warfare and brutality, the Kránékan is a friend to all who seek violence alongside intelligence to accomplish their goals. Most Brauvosi warriors pray to the Kránékan whenever they encounter any undead Mortuns roaming across their planet.
NAHKÉNOI (NAH-keh-NOY) - Known only as "The Darkened One" Nahkénoi is a mysterious creature whose true origins are shrouded in mystery. Revered by the most powerful of Brauvosi mystics, Nahkénoi is the patron saint of all arts, magical and mysterious. Brauvosi healers, alchemists, and druids periodically pray to Nahkénoi before preparing any of their most virulent mixtures. Moreover, Brauvosi hunters occasionally seek guidance from the shadowy being before embarking into dangerous territory, for only those in Nahkénoi's council know how to navigate the unknown.
NÉHKRAAH (NEH-KRAA) - A creature whose gargantuan corpse lays beneath Brauvus-VII's oily waves, Néhkraah is said to have been one of the planet's first and most powerful aquatic creatures. Though only the tip of its skull breaches Brauvus-VII's oceans, Brauvosi folklore dictates that their people's ancestors climbed Néhkraah's spinal column into the world above. Carefully traversing the aquatic giant's corpse, the first Brauvosi traveled upwards from the planet's seabeds as they filled with the noxious blood and sinews of fallen gods. Currently, the Brauvosi consider the ancient remains of this beast as "the bridge between worlds," and closely associate Néhkraah with traveling, exploration and overcoming obstacles. As such, Néhkraah is the patron of explorers, pathfinders, and traveling merchants, and is a close friend of all Brauvosi making their way through major settlements.
