The Pit is a gigantic pocket of space where no planets, moons, or debris fields reside. Instead, the Pit is a series of powerful black holes whose edges glow a menacing purple-pink hue. Each of the Pit’s blackholes are capable of absorbing anything that are caught by their gravitational fields, including other blackholes. This has made the Pit a prime location for anyone attempting to dispose of undesirable cargo—or an excellent way to divert unwanted attention. However, the blackholes within the Pit appear to be growing larger in size and force at a continuous rate. As such, any and all planets, space stations and any civilizations located in any nearby sectors are considered “The Doomed Ones” by various intergalactic governments.
The Pit is widely regarded as “The Bane of all Spacefarers”. Its many blackholes and singularities are a nightmarish threat to pilots of any vessel, regardless of shape, size, or strength. Everything in the foreseeable Galaxy is incapable of escaping these voracious vortexes once caught in their grasp, striking fear in all but the most experienced (and perhaps foolhardy) spacefarers. Located near the far edges of the Outer Rim of the Galaxy, the Pit is heavily guarded, with every vessel that comes near the region being closely monitored. Thus, approaching the Pit is reserved only for two types of individuals; the Galaxy’s most dangerous criminals, and the steadfast sentinels who guard them.
Miscellaneous Species
Fondly called “A Criminal’s Worst Nightmare” by intergalactic law enforcers, The Pit is the final destination for the Galaxy’s most undesirable criminals. Any offenders deemed too dangerous (or too resource-taxing) to be kept alive are sent to the roving space platform floating just out of range of the Pit’s gravitational grasp. Officially labeled as “Intergalactic Void Penitentiary Omega-1” but more colloquially known as “Repentance Station,” it is the last stop for all charged criminals before their eventual ends. Here, prisoners are transferred from the various transports into cramped pods, which feature minimal life-support systems and no manual controls. These pods are then forcibly ejected from Repentance Station on a one-way trip towards one of the many blackholes with their prisoner occupants trapped inside. Any guidance of the pods is remote-controlled from one of the many technicians on Repentance Station, each one proud that they have a perfect record of “disposing of any and all threats given to the station into the black void below.”
Although Repentance Station’s record of disposing of criminals remains untarnished, its crew’s adherence to properly pursuing intergalactic trial law is far more lackluster. As far as the Warden of the station is concerned, once a criminal is convicted and sent to the station, they may only leave it through their forced expulsion towards certain death. The other crew members of Repentance Station certainly reflect this sentiment: the individual charges, judiciary processes, and contexts associated with these charged criminals are seen as unimportant and irrelevant. Moreover, the main guards of the station have a reputation for openly taunting their charges, telling them that once they dock on the station, they have no hope of survival.
In short, the operators of Repentance Station do not care whether their prisoners are in fact guilty or innocent; what matters most is that they deliver the convicted criminals towards their deaths without any delay. As such, the one thing that strikes fear in the hearts of all but the most insane criminals is being sent to Repentance Station. They know that once there, they have no hope of persuasion, bribery, coercion, or escape. The crew members of Repentance Station are as unyielding and heartless as the ravenous blackholes nearby it.
